Придаточные предложения следствия – это такой вид придаточных предложений в составе сложных предложений, который по смыслу обозначает результат действия, состояния предмета или последствия ситуации, выраженные сказуемым главного предложения. При этом предложения, в состав которых входят такие придаточные, могут быть как сложносочиненными, так и сложноподчиненными. В большинстве случаев главные и придаточные соединяются между собой с помощью служебных частей речи – союзов, союзных слов и (иногда) частиц.
Среди этих служебных частей речи наиболее распространены следующие:
- so (так, таким образом),
- so / such (a/an)… that (такой…, что…),
- so few/ so little / so many / so much … that (так мало / много … что)
и другие подобные слова.
Однако следует отметить, что существуют строгие критерии выбора этих и других союзов и союзных слов в зависимости от строения предложения и его смысла. Так, например, such … that употребляется в конструкциях «прилагательное + исчисляемое существительное в единственном числе», причем после слова such ставится артикль a или an.
- Например: It was such an interesting play that I decided to visit it again. – Спектакль был таким интересным, что я решил посетить его еще раз.
Также возможно построение конструкции «Such + прилагательное + исчисляемое существительное во множественном числе (неисчисляемое существительное)», если речь идет о неисчисляемых предметов и их признаках, либо о нескольких или многих предметах.
- Например: That was such wonderful weather that we went for a walk. – Была такая прелестная погода, что мы пошли погулять.
Данными примерами способы образования придаточных предложений следствия не исчерпываются: их намного больше, и они зависят от частных речевых ситуаций. Для того чтобы можно было представить наиболее распространенные из них, мы составили таблицу, приведя их описание и конкретные примеры предложений с переводом на русский язык.

as a result, therefore и consequently (перед союзом ставится запятая) | The lecture was quite boring, and as a result some of the students began to fall asleep. – Лекция была довольно скучной, в результате этого некоторые студенты начали засыпать. |
Данная таблица не претендует на завершенность: существует множество других способов указать на результат действия или последствия сложившейся ситуации. И все их описать и проиллюстрировать примерами невозможно, поскольку язык – это всегда многогранное и динамично развивающееся явление, полноты владения которым можно достичь лишь систематической собственной речевой практикой, работая как с текстами, так и с устной речью на изучаемом языке. Однако нельзя не отметить, что во многом строение придаточных следствия напоминает аналогичные синтаксические конструкции в русском языке, и отличия связаны, главным образом, с грамматическими особенностями служебных частей речи и глаголов, которые среди иных частей речи наиболее богаты различными словоформами.
